Here are TWENTY-FOUR (24) Newly Made HO Slot Car Aurora G+ G-PLUS style
Pick Up Shoe Springs, replaces part #8888. NEWLY MADE B.T.O. Better
Than Original!
These
new G-Plus pickup shoe springs are made in the USA from .007" beryllium
copper. There are 9.625 coils per spring at an uncompressed spring
height of .225".
Original Aurora G-Plus and Super MagnaTraction
springs used an outside diameter of about .098" while the spring hole in
the chassis measures about .112". This gap of about .014" gives the
spring too much leeway and could cause the shoes to tilt and not lay
flat. Increasing the O.D. to .105" allows for a much better fit and
performance.
These springs can be used in the Aurora G-Plus chassis
as well as all the Aurora Super MagnaTraction style chassis which
includes the Speed Shifters, Blazin' Brakes and Cat's Eye.
Note:
Aurora used the same pickup springs in both the G-Plus chassis and all
the Super MagnaTraction style chassis. Because of the different pickup
shoe design between the G-Plus and Super MagnaTraction, the stock G-Plus
springs can often be too strong for the Super MagnaTraction style
chassis, resulting in rapid shoe wear and deslots. Another spring is
available with an uncompressed spring height of .200" specifically to
work better in the Super MagnaTraction style chassis.
Note: Both the
new G-Plus and new Super MagnaTraction spring use the same wire, number
of coils, inside and outside diameter. The only difference between the
two springs is the uncompressed height. The G-Plus is at .225" and the
Super MagnaTraction is at .200". The shorter free length of the Super
MagnaTraction spring results in a weaker spring.
